Painting Machine III
2021 - 64 x 68 x 18 inches - Aluminum, Motors, ABS Plastic, Acrylic, Microcontrollers
Painting Machine III was created for my senior work in sculpture at Bennington College. A five axis system for robotic painting, with a working area of 44 by 44 inches. It mixes and applies any color of acrylic paint to a wall mounted canvas with two different brushes.

Painting Machine IV
2022 - 36 x 26 x 52 inches - Aluminum, Motors, Microcontroller
Painting Machine IV is the compact successor of version III, designed to fit in a bedroom workspace. It can be operated remotely and without supervision. Constructed mostly from dumpster-scavenged automation parts, it is a work in progress.
Caress Message
CNC machine, Brush, Paper, Pen
Caress message uses a modified CNC machine and a brush to draw the shapes of letters on subject's back. A 3D scan of the back is used to ensure the brush maintains a specific height/pressure with regard to the contours of the back. Through these touches, a message is relayed to the subject.

Accumulation
2018 - 26 x 22 x 14 inches - Aluminum, Motors, ABS Plastic, Acrylic, Microcontrollers
Accumulation is an attempt to highlight my relationship to PTFE (Teflon) and the poisoning that results from its manufacture and use. Saint Gobain Performance Plastics operated a factory in my hometown of Bennington Vermont. The corporation produced PTFE coated fabrics and metals using PFOA (a surfactant chemical) in the coating process. PFOA and similar compounds were washed off of the applied Teflon and expelled into the air through burning. Accumulation is a representation of this washing process which presents the names of the released chemicals as it tries to wash them away.
